Catalinas

I did a little bit of grocery shopping today (one of my favorite activities) and let me just say how much I love those little coupons that spit out by the register when you are checking out. It is always like a wonderful surprise. You never know what you are going to get or how many and how I love to watch them just print and print and print. At one point in time, someone noticed that these coupons were printed or managed by a company named Catalina (I think) and so these little register coupons have been affectionately dubbed "Catalinas" by those people that love their coupons and care about these things.

Sometimes they are obviously triggered by something that you purchased. Like if you buy a box of Fruity Tooties and you get a coupon saying next time you purchase cereal, you can get $1.00 off if you try Apple Zapples. Other times, they are just as random as can be. Today I had one print out for a free box of Kleenex Anti-Viral tissues. How nice is that. A free box of Kleenex for no particular reason. Oh how I wish that I was a Catalina programmer. I have tons of ideas. I think that there should just be a plethora of things that can print out, some could be random, some could be triggered, some could be every 100th person, etc. etc. Some could be coupons for cents off items, some could be free items, some could be winning something, and others could just say things like "My, you look delightful today!" Ah, the possibilities are endless and they all make me smile.

May you all be blessed with fun and useful Catalinas--and for those of you that send those straight to the trash, feel free to pass them my way!! :)
