What's On My Mind

My mother-In-Law - she was diagnosed with an abdominal aneurysm last Friday and we have all been praying as we waited for tests this week. We are all relieved, her especially, that it turns out to be calcification in her aorta and a normal amount of it for her age!

The Future - it is looming. Did you hear that...LOOMING. It is disconcerting.

Sister's Getaway - It is looming, but a positive sort of looming. Will be here in less than 2 weeks. It has been 4 years in the making and we are ready!!!!

A case of the "shoulds" - I should do this and I should do that. I get this every once in awhile. Pesky little virus.

My yellow lilacs - In an oh so bold move, I ordered yellow lilac plants 3 years ago thinking how beautiful it will be when they get old enough to bloom. They are still relatively small, but I noticed one of the little over-achievers has some blooms on it...they are purple. I have been explaining to him each day that he is supposed to be yellow, but he doesn't seem to be able to do much about it. I promise not to treat him differently than the others, but I think that I may have some words with company.

My In-Laws 50th Wedding Anniversary - ah, the LOOMING again. They didn't have much of a wedding ceremony and not a reception at all . (My poor mother-in-law can't even remember where they went on their honeymoon and my sneaky father-in-law won't tell her. This has been a standing joke for decades). They have decided on a casual, but nice Open House on their farm in June. Even though it is going to be casual, I want to make it special, and pretty, and creative...I think that I can possibly handle the special, but the creative and pretty are so out of my league that it is plaguing me...

Many, many, many, many other things...

How I miss you Jennifer!

When I did my parents 50th we found nice frames where you can place a wedding picture on one side and a current picture on the other. We got them flowers to wear and decorated the tables - use colors from their wedding if you can. Is your father in law planning a SECOND honeymoon to the same place as the first? it would be fun if he did (probably).

We invited cousins and friends from nearby states that they hadn't seen since retiring and moving away...

You could do a display board of pictures - like they do at a science fair. Build a family tree of pictures on the board and then decorate it...

Gather all the family around and enjoy enjoy!

Hope they are as fun, dry humored and ornery as your husband! :) MA Blogger

MAB-Thanks for all the suggestions. Incidentally, no one is quite as ornery as Daniel!
