To Blog or Not To Blog

Well, here I am.

I was introduced to blogging earlier this year and I must admit, I have been intrigued ever since. I enjoy the opportunity to share in other's lives this way, but I personally have resisted the temptation to blog for various reasons. The biggest being, knowing myself pretty well for 32 years now, I am familiar with my compulsive nature and I just didn't want one more thing that I felt I had to do every day, especially since I already keep a written journal.

Last week, however, I was really thinking about my Quiet Time with God. In fact, a good friend and I even had a wonderful discussion about Personal Devotions and she shared how she takes notes after reading Scripture. I started to wonder if maybe that method would help me stay a little more focused (notice my fitting blog title) and help me grow. I am embarrassed to say, however, that my first thought was:

Oh no, more paper. Should I get a special notebook, where should I keep it, should I just use looseleaf. Should I make a file for my notes. How should I file my notes. How long should I keep the notes...
the interest was quickly waning...and then a little voice in the back of my head (which sounded strangely like Danielle C.) said "You could blog." Ah, the answer. No paper. Great idea. Should I try it.

My thought pattern went kind of like this:

You could still become compulsive and feel you needed to do it every day.
Well, don't let yourself. Just post when you want to. I checked the rules and there isn't a Blog Police and I checked the Ten Commandments and Thy Shalt Blog Every Day was not even in The Message

You might look very un-intelligent, possibly un-spiritual, and just downright lame to those that might read it.
So, don't let anyone read it, or better yet, don't worry about what other people may think. Better to have someone think you are lame when you aren't even in the same general area as opposed to doing it in person!!!

You may actually excel so quickly at blogging and be so insightful that you become famous and you don't know what to do with yourself.
Okay, I just threw that one in for a chuckle.

The answer seems clear....I should not blog.

Gotcha. That would just be downright silly!

I have decided to embark on a journey into blogdom. I am continually reminded of the quote that children must hear thousands of times before they graduate....

The only stupid question is the one not asked.

Well, watch out everyone, I have some doozies.

Yippy skippy, yee haa, and hooray! You're blogging! You're already cracking me up. And not because you're "lame". You are so far from lame. I mean, I've seen you walk. Sorry, bad pun.

Anyway, you're right. You don't have to do it every day. I'll keep checking on you, my compulsive friend, don't worry. Now you're officially a blogger. Woo hoo!

Oh, I also loved your remark about the Ten Commandments and the Message. You're a hoot.
